Going Fishing

I did it! Actually with the help of my new friends Diane from School House Treasures and Monica from Have a Heart.....I added my First picture to my new blog! Thank you so much for your help!

My husband Ed is an avid fishermen. I have always admired his passion, focus, and his knowledge of the sport. In retrospect I guess I am the same way about teaching. Even though it is the summer I have cast my fishing line into the world of the internet trying to get new ideas for the upcoming school year.I am in the midst of the Book Club that is currently going on regarding Daily5 and The Cafe by The Two Sisters...it is being hosted by WeReadWeBlogWeTeach. Pinterest has also been an ongoing wealth of information. I have scoped out TeachersPayTeachers....along with an abundance of Blogs. I have students that are returning and I personally just don't want them to be board in my classroom. So I am on the hunt for the perfect "fish." to add to my classroom. I don't want my students to be "hungry" in my room. I would like to think they are never hungry since I actually run a Cafe program out of my classroom...there is never a lack of food that is for sure. :) I just want them to be "fed" with the ability to succeed in life,"fed" with as much knowledge as I possibly can give them about Literacy this year. Most importantly I want them to be "fed" with the ability to be independent, where they only have themselves to rely on. I realize that is quite a list for special needs students...but I truly feel people don't give special needs children the credit they so richly deserve.
How do you want to feed your students this year?

  2. Debbie,
Great analogy! I want my 3rd graders to be fed with the same things: confidence, independence, a love of books and learning!
And....yeah on the adding pictures! Great job!
Congrats on the award above too!
