It's Flashback Friday!

I am linking up with Amanda Maddeness http://www.teachingmaddeness.com for her Flashback Friday. Simply share a few teaching tips or ideas that you used in the classroom this week...then go to her site and link up.

Here goes...this week in all the mayhem of trying to still do procedures, routines and answer a gazillion questions I was actually able to get a few things accomplished. Taking this idea from Pinterest I asked each of my students what they wanted to be when they grew up. They wrote their answers on a chalkboard

and I pretended I was the paparazzi taking their pics. I am going to get these developed this weekend in black and white..next week they will do a writing piece on Why they want  to go into that profession. It looks like I have a few teachers on my hands along with a  few agents and some train engineers thrown in.

Did you know that Farley from http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com now has her Currently available for purchase in her TPT store? She has made a Currently for every month of the year to use in your classroom! My students did this today...some very interesting responses....now if we could get past what Currently actually meant we were in business. :) In the future I am going to do this at the beginning of each month. She has quite a few choices in her package as well. Worth a look see.

writing books is easy....once you get started

Lastly..I kicked off Cafe this week using Mentor text in my lesson...I learned something about my principal..he didn't know what a Mentor Text was...so I guess I taught him something too!

I used My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother by Polacco to introduce Writer's Notebook along with some Cafe strategies. My students really got into it....and like it was suggested through a Book Club this summer I used the book the entire week to teach skills.

What are somethings you were able to implement in your classroom this past week?

I realize I have been away for a while..it is my hope to get back into the swing of blogging.
Have a great weekend. :)

  1. Thanks so much for linking up!! I can't wait to see how your "paparazzi" pictures turn out. I saw those on pinterest and thought it was SUCH a cute idea!
